Which Day 2 / Day 8 Test Should I Get?

The test you require depends on both the countries you visit and your vaccinations status. Check your personal 2 & 8 day test requirements by checking the rules for entering the UK. The test package you require will be determined by your vaccination status:

Fully Vaccinated Arrivals

Fully vaccinated arrivals from non-Red List countries:  Day 2 Only PCR Testing – £45

Partially/Unvaccinated Arrivals

Partially/Unvaccinated Arrivals from non-Red List countries:  Day 2 and Day 8 PCR Testing – £99

How Does Day 2 and Day 8 Testing for International Arrivals Work?

It’s easy to complete your mandatory day 2 & 8 day testing through TMB’s partner laboratory Oncologica / Coronafocus:

• Use the Coronafocus portal to input your personal details and select the test option you require: Day 2 and Day 8 PCR Testing – £99 or Day 2 Only PCR Testing – £45
• Our laboratory partner will send your swab test kits to arrive in time for each of your 2nd and 8th day tests, as required by the UK Government
• Instructions will be sent once you complete your test booking on the Oncologica / Coronafocus portal – these will explain how to register and activate your self-test kit using your unique password (sent to the booking contact and email address you provide). You must enter the date and time your swab is taken in the online customer dashboard to enable the lab to process your test
• Once your swab test kit is fully registered and activated, follow the included insstructions to collect your swab sample
• Package your sample and use the included return mail labelling to post your sample to the lab using any of the 1000’s of Royal Mail COVID-19 priority post boxes
• Once received by the laboratory, your sample will be analysed and results returned to the contact information you supply

When Should I Use the Day 2 and Day 8 Testing for International Arrivals Self-Test Package?

Anyone required to take part in mandatory Day 2 and Day 8 testing after arriving in the UK can be use TMB tests. The tests are necessary to track COVID-19 cases entering the UK. If your day 2 swab sample is positive, your sample will be subject to genome sequencing to determine which variant you have been infected with.

• Analysis of your samples, and any required additional genome sequencing
• Results communicated to Public Health England (PHE) as required

How Much Does Day 2 Only Testing for International Arrivals Cost?

• 1 swab test kit for Day 2 testing
• Results returned to you within 24 hours
• Inlcuded postage for returning your samples to our laboratory

What Are the Kit Dispatch, Return and Test Lab Opening Times?

PCR test kits are posted via next day delivery from our laboratory on the date you are due to return to the UK. Return your completed self-swab sample using the included pre-paid Royal Mail 24-hour tracked postage. Post your packaged sample in a Royal Mail priority post box. These are normal Royal Mail post boxes with a priority label on them. Or you can hand deliver swab samples to the following address to avoid postal delays:

You can arrange your own private courier to deliver the swab directly to our lab which is open 24 hours 7 days a week.

Your kits will be delivered in time for your return to the UK. Last minute orders for imminent arrivals placed on the Oncologica Portal before 12pm Monday to Friday GMT will be dispatched that same day for next working day delivery, and in line with government rules relating to test kit supply.

Orders placed after 12pm GMT Monday to Friday will be dispatched on the following day. If you are ordering before 11am GMT on a Saturday, your Coronafocus Test Kit will be dispatched on the same day for Sunday delivery. Orders placed after 11am GMT on Saturday will be dispatched on the following Monday. Orders are not dispatched on Sundays or on Bank Holidays.

Please note that government rules mean, irrespective of when ordered, you will receive two separate tests with unique barcodes for each day. In order to avoid dispatch delays outside of our control please order at least 3 working days prior to when they are required. Delays by Royal Mail return service are outside of our control. It is your responsibility to return post your swab sample to us in sufficient time for your testing requirements.

How Long Does It Take To Get Day 2 and Day 8 Testing Results?

Day 2 and day 8 tests for international arrivals take up to 24 hours to complete analysis and return your results for each of your swab sample tests. This is the maximum time it will take from when your swab sample is received by the lab after being posted by using dedicated Royal Mail COVID-19 priority post boxes.

What if I Have Further Questions About My Coronavirus Test Results?

Testing is provided by our partner laboratory, Oncologica. You will book your test(s) using the Oncologica / Coronafocus Portal. The laboratory provides a dedicated phone number that airport authorities can call to validate your test results and personal information. Your test result certificate, which is signed by a supervising clinician, is clearly presented and meets requirements.

What Are the Possible Results of the Test?

Your results documents will include your results, which will be either Negative or Positive. Your results documents will include information to help you understand your results. If your test result is positive, your sample will be subjected to genome sequencing to analyse which COVID-19 variant you contracted. This information is with the UK government for them to track infections and variants being carried by travel arrivals.

There is a 1% chance your test result can come back as Inconclusive and the laboratory will require that you take a retest. Inconclusive tests mean the lab cannot prove you DID NOT have COVID at the time you were tested. There are a number of factors why this happens and the lab will not be able to be too specific.

About 2 & 8 Day Coronavirus Test Analysis

Our specialist laboratory is able to analyse swab samples to determine if COVID-19 is present. If the virus is detected in your sample, you are currently infected with COVID-19. We, and our laboratory, are UKAS accredited private providers of mandatory Day 2 and Day 8 PCR testing for international arrivals. Our laboratory meets the high standards required for the provision of COVID-19 testing.

Can I Use Day 2 and Day 8 Testing To Help Me With Travel?

If you are required to undertake mandatory testing on day 2 / day 2 and day 8 after arriving in the UK after travel, you can order a test package from TMB. We will supply all the information required for your Passenger Locator Form. The laboratory will directly communicate your results to the government testing scheme, as required, to assist with tracking COVID-19 infections and variants.

There are currently inconsistencies with international travel regulations. Different countries and employers have different regulations, and these regulations are changing rapidly. You must check with your employer, insurer and airline as to your individual & specific constraints around travel & COVID-19 testing.
